Captain Nances Seafood in Calabash

The atmosphere was cute and the food felt fresh. My scallop sandwich was not easy to keep in sandwich form, as the scallops poured out the sides, so I ate it and then the bu. Lettuce, tomato and cheese are extra, so I did not get these. Good thing I do not like tomatoes. The food was fresh and the service was good. Our waitress, Kim, was extremely friendly and did a great job of monitoring. The Cole slaw was not too creamy. I guess I was expecting a little more bang for my buck, but this is tourist season and tourist area. The hush puppies that come at the beginning were very good.

Breading, frying, and excess butter/salt on baked fish detract from the flavor and quality of fresh seafood and run contrary to a healthy diet. Marine animals made no small sacrifice for our meals. Out of respect for them, the Captain needs to step up and provide stronger culinary leadership for his crew.

Super friendly service.. classic fried seafood. Simple but filling.

We are starting to believe that every restaurant in Calabash has exactly the same lunch. Don’t get me wrong, it’s very good and reasonably priced, but we’ve been to four restaurants with virtually the same lunch menu and the food is almost identical. Captain Nance has a better view, being on the waterway, but is also slightly more expensive. All that being said, we really enjoyed it and will definitely return.

Great fried seafood! If you are looking for fresh fried seafood, this is your place! Good customer service with a nice view. Highly recommend

Food was good but it was not hot when brought to our table..

We've been coming to Capn Nance's almost every year we're here for vacation, it's worth the effort to try to find.

Hush puppies were good, that was about it. The cup of clam chowder was watery and flavorless, and all the seafood in the "Taste of Calabash" platter was fried, oily, and bland.. WAY overpriced. Service was horrible, had to wait 20 min for the check and a box, which only came when I got up and told the hostesses, never saw our waiter again after getting food, and to add insult to injury, me and my wife both had bad stomach aches so we threw our leftovers out. Manager did give us 20% off but still was not worth it.

Awesome food. Moderately priced. Great staff. Been there multiple times and each waitress was great. Bailey, Sydney, Misty, and others I forget names sorry. Thanks for an enjoyable experience! I will keep coming back!

This is a family tradition every time we come down for vacation we have to eat here. The people are so friendly and welcoming, good food, good environment. Love this place!

A-1 food and service. Relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommended.

We got cold food, waiter brought wrong food and sizes, didn’t know who got what. Asked nicely to have food replaced, waiter rolled eyes and said “give me your plates”. Very disappointed in the whole dining experience. View was nice until people started trying to feed the birds.

Good food. You get a decent amount for the price. Service was not so good. Waitress rarely came to check on us, and the bus boy started clearing the table before I was able to get all of my stuff off of it. Definitely don’t go near closing time.

Last meal before heading home. Great service, delicious food. Ordered the fish Fillet sandwich (on a bun) with shared sides of sweet potato fries and onion rings. Definitely recommend to anyone in the area! Love the decor ❤️

Good food. Practicing social distancing. The pickle relish in the cole slaw was a surprise, but a good one that was tasty.

staff was great fries was popping but oh my god why is everything fried!!!! stuff was nasty couldn’t even stomach it. every one of the members of my group had to puke after to just feel better. really was not the place to be so much money for such little bad food.

Once a year we get a vacation and want to eat good seafood. Definitely didn’t get it here. The food is way overpriced for the quality and the food was nasty. The tarter sauce and cole slaw were hot. The place was dirty and our waitress was forgetful and not attentive. It was the only place without a wait, this should have been a clue, but with small children we thought we would try it. First and last time here.

Nice place for dinner. We ate outside, it was a really nice outdoor area. Inside the building looks like it could use some updates however. Food was very good, server was great. The only major complaint I had was the seagulls. They actually had to remake our meal because a bird took food off the server tray, and one bird pooped on my sons chair. It did have good view of the water, and regardless of the birds I would eat there again.

We got there at 1, got a table outside. Misty was supposed to be our server but after 30 minutes she never came. We left because we were going to miss our boat tour. We came back after our boat tour. Sat at table 9 inside. Savannah was our server, she was really rude. She kept hiding behind the wall in the server station on her phone. She just took our order and disappeared. Wanted a refill but she was nowhere to be found. Had to ask another server to get our ticket. Oh! And there’s no service down there. I have Sprint. I asked the Scott, the manager for the WiFi password because I needed to call an Uber to our hotel and he refused to help us. Never coming back. The food quality was poor. The place was tacky and smelled. I’m only leaving a very detailed review because I work in a restaurant as well and I go above and beyond to make sure my guest have a great time. The staff treated their job as if they were doing me a personal favor.

The dining room was closed during to covid, but we got take out and sat at one of the outdoor tables. We got the "Taste of Calabash" everything was delicious! My favorite was the scallops, they just melted in my mouth. Hubby loved the shrimp, said he could eat 10 pounds of them. We enjoyed it all though. The staff was very friendly and helpful!!

Great place for lunch on a rainy day. Had the lunch special with baked potato and 2 types of fish. Generous portions.

Great food and service! Outside deck is great for social distancing.

This place is great. We had the calabash sampler the fresh shrimp were wonderful. The clam strips were just right. The flounder was great but had the skin in it and my wife won't eat fish that way.

Awesome!!! Clean, fast courteous staff! Food came out hot and very tasty. Our server Rhylee was amazing!!! Kept a check on us, glasses refilled!!Most definitely will go back!!!

Very good been to others places on the water but hard to beat the food quality and the view... very good went there 2 times already and will return again.. highly recommend for lunch

Found this gem of a place in Calabash I had the seafood deluxe with baked potato my husband had shrimp and flounder we couldn't finish it all had to get a to go tray for the left overs you definitely get your money's worth our waitress Lillie was a delight we will be returning

I've been wanting to get back to this place for a long time! Food is delicious! Service is always very good! And prices & quantity for their lunch specials are fantastic! We are on the deck outside, and the view of the waterway is delightful!

Had to give 1 star to comment Waited almost an hour on our food. When he set it down, all 4 plates of food was Cold. Ask for another Flounder, & steak sauce. Another 45 min are now gone. Everyone finished eating & I'm still waiting on ONE Piece of Fish..ONE... BTW, there wasn't hardly anyone there, & a Tuesday night, I had to find the waiter & ask, his reply didn't set well. I felt really bad for the Waiter & US... My Grandlady/family was in town (on N.C. coast) & picked this place. Not me. The young Waiter may have been new or just couldn't remember. Yet, when we were ready to leave after 2 & 1/2 hrs, we asked the 4th different time for the steak sauce & then had 3 of us to repeat 4 times for to go boxes. He took off my plate & gave us a 10% discount. The bill STILL was 84.95. (for 3)NEVER EVER AGAIN. FIRST & LAST. .We LIVE in N.Myrtle SOOOOO, As I have told them & Everyone, THE BEST IS ON MAIN STREET IN N.MYRTLE BEACH...Never been disappointed in 45 yrs eating there.

I recently went to Captain Nance's with a group of friends to try the seafood. We had a wonderful experience. The service was excellent and the food was great. Gina was our server and was able to cater to any dietary needs we had and was very knowledgeable of the menu. She also had a great personality and a good sense of humor. 10/10 service. We will definitely be coming back to Gina and to eat the delicious food!

We were looking for good food, less crowd and scenery. We got it all. Everyone enjoyed their fresh seafood and sitting outside was a great choice.

Great seafood. Had the taste of Calabash and loved it. Sat outside on their porch, which is covered and ceiling fans. Great atmosphere. Staff was wonderful and kind.

Everything is fried uess u want to pay an additional $2 for broiled. My sandwich was very soggy, the cole slaw was yucky, hubbys chicken tenders weren't even as good as Perdue. Pricey as well

Came here with a party of 13 and called ahead for seating. We arrived right around 5:45pm and the place was packed out. We waited approximately 15-20 minutes and we were seated and a short time later our drink orders were taken and they brought out some awesome hush puppies. I think I could have had a order of the hush puppies as my meal they were so good.They took our order and it took a little bit but we did have a party of 13, so it was to be expected. I ordered the Calabash Sampler platter and I very much enjoyed it. My son ordered the sea trout and he said it was very good. Several of the adults ordered fried shrimp, crab legs, and even some chicken fingers. They all said it was very good. It was a little pricey but I didn’t expect it to be cheap. We will definitely come back again on our next beach vacation.

Food is good as always, staff is pretty good as well...1 point off bc they require you to wear a mask but the staff doesn't wear their mask properly

I think Captain Nance bought these google reviews. Could have gotten better food and service from Long John Silvers! Portions are small for the price.My son ordered a flounder sandwich, IT LOOKED AND TASTED GROSS! Our server did not refill our drinks EVEN ONCE! He forgot my husbands baked potato. We did not even tell the waiter because he acted to hurried to even care ( he had No tables at the time!!!). My fish was cold! We sat for about 20 minutes while he finished his closing duties and waited on a different table. WASTED TIME, WASTED MONEY!!

Service was slow, hush puppies for oily, portions were great, seafood was great, don't know if they have changed ownership or changed their recipe, they have changed the way that they make their coleslaw I wish they would go back to their old recipe.I mentioned that the service was Flo I understand their covid-19 restrictions seating capacity 50% there were plenty of staff congregated in the refreshment area. Yet my glass wasn't refilled in a timely manner

Very delicious. Fried shrimp & scallops great. Sons got Salmon and flounder. Excellent. Kids plates are nice and large. Reasonably priced. Nice staff. Ask to sit by window to watch the boats go by :)

Great outdoor deck with a beautiful view of the water. The waiters and waitresses were very sweet and helpful. Took a little while for food but for how busy they were is was fairly good time. Food was good. Portion were good sized. Over all I would recommend.

Fresh seafood that's hot! The staff is friendly from the time you walk in until the time you leave. Birthday; anniversary they are willing to help you celebrate! The waitress didn't let my tea go empty the food was delicious and you get your what you pay for! I've also have tried their steaks, their chicken sandwiches and they are delicious as well. So for those of you that don't like seafood they do have other items you can eat as well that doesn't taste or smell like the seafood! They have outside sitting for those days it feels nice and warm where you would love to look at the water. You can also buy fresh uncooked seafood behind the restaurant off of their boats. I would recommend others to go and enjoy a delicious dinner with Captain Nance's!

First time eating here. Senior scallops orser with a bowl of clay chowder was very good and plenty of food. Scenery of the Inter Coastal was nice.
